When you choose to join Eastwei, you are choosing more than a job – your are choosing a career. We will be looking for two things from you: service orientation and a willingness to learn.

We are a service company. In order to provide excellent results for clients, we have to be service-minded and client-focused. At Eastwei, you should think first about your client and second about yourself and your company. You will, however, feel justifiably proud to work for world-famous brands that have chosen our firm as their China agency.

A willingness to learn is important because we require that you understand your clients in-depth – and that you are able to use your experience and understanding of the Chinese market to help clients frame their needs using clear models. Since we believe that excellent communications can only be built through in-depth understanding, we are quite tough on knowledge requirements. This means even experienced PR practitioners are sometimes forced to go "back to school" for the first few months at Eastwei. We also require you to pass certain Eastwei Academy courses before each promotion.

Eastwei Probation Training takes you through your first three months at the company. You will learn the basics of project management, the correct use of our databases and other resources, and doing media relations "the Eastwei way".

The Eastwei Academy is our ongoing program for all consultants.

Probation Training

During probation, we provide an intensive program to help you become a consultant and an Eastwei colleague:

•   Basic Public Relations skills and jargon
•   Advanced software skills and Time Management techniques
•   Eastwei work tools, systems and platforms
•   Eastwei corporate culture, development goals and employee handbook

We provide face-to-face training, video materials and webcasts.

Eastwei Academy

The Eastwei Academy on-the-job training initiative consists of in-house courses, outsourced training, and our book reading program.

In-house courses include Media Skills, Proposal and Report Writing, and other advanced PR courses. Management Skills and other general courses are usually provided through outsourcing to training companies. Finally, we require every consultant to do an oral exam on some key theory books on topics ranging from management and leadership to more specific business skills. Book reading is tied to promotion, and the relevant books are related to the level of each consultant.
